Suppose to get hot by wednesday/thursday, hopefully will help do some waking up. Liljozie and I plan on going out wednesday or thursday afternoon, hopefully will have some good news to bring back and post here.

I know right... I 'm thinkin Thursday i need to hit the late afternoon 5 o'clock until dark routine and see how that works out.

Wonder if the truck drivers are seeing them early in the morning.. I was in there signing in at 5:10 and a loggin truck when cruisin right past the shack.. I thought you moe-foe..So much for pickin up the easy road runner in the early morning.. It would be nice to know if they are seeing a bunch of them around a particular location though.

Under the guise of the hunt itself( to help eradicate some of the property damaging bears) you would think they would want that knowledge known.... and maybe they do i iust have not asked anybody in the office. Kinda like asking the guy at the boat house how's the fishin where they catchin um and what are they using.  Sounds actually reasonable to me

They used to tell you where the bait stations were, back when it was legal. I would talk to clyde if you see him up there and ask if they still feed the bears to help keep them off the trees.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

yes they feed. however during the spring hunt they only feed on the bridge gate side wich is not open to spring bear hunting. besides just being in the vacinity of "bait" could get you in trouble

its not even close to time for them to start peeling. when you see one inch long fresh starts on trees is when they will start peeling. that's when the sap and starches start moving from roots to new growth

I wouldn't say its that far off, I have those little brown corn kernel pieces that come off the tip of the limbs just before the new growth starts all over my concrete, so I'd say its just about to start

Nope, I messed up and did not read the print in my rush to get the drawing done on time. It was my first attempt at a spring draw, so I never realized it was a pay to hunt situation. My points, My mistake.
how much huntin would you do if you had access. Id spot you 25 if you pony up the rest.

Thanks for the offer, but the cost is not the point.

Each of the big timber companies want animals removed for damage control. A couple are now charging hunters to remove animals that they want cleared out. If everyone eagerly agrees to pay for access, then pretty soon the only hunting allowed will be to the highest bidding hunting club while the rest of us are locked out. Right now, Weyerhaeuser has hunting only by lease in the following states:
Alabama
Arkansas
Louisiana
Mississippi
North Carolina
Oklahoma
 Texas

Only Washington and Oregon have yet to go hunting lease only, but it's in the works.
Every time one of us buys permission from a timber company we're only teaching them to charge as much as the market can bare. Those huge tax breaks that timber companies enjoy should also come with a reasonable amount of public access, without spending hundreds of dollars at the gate.

Just my .02 on why I won't pay.

Bob/Woodman throw us a bone...what did you see tonight?

Just got back...Met up with Scott Frick and we sat on some cuts and drove lots of roads... Saw 1 deer, and probably 15-20 elk and no bears.. We glassed a lot of timber, lot of clear cuts and drove back into the skunk cabbage flats by camp 5 and didn't see any bear at all.

So the quest continues.. Wish i had better news but we were on the hillside at 5 ish and hung out glassing for 1.5 hours before we moved to other areas in hopes of surprising something but just didn't happen

Thanks Scott for hangin out lets do it again soon

brett this is a Kapowsin bear from earlier. They are in there. I spent time with another fellow in there today and had a great time. He really is a shed hunter and between the two of us we have been getting quite a few. The vegetation is starting to sprout now and there are some lush spots if you look. For those that did not see, I photographed a nice sow with triplet cubs a couple of days ago and posted under the bear hunting thread.
