Look what I found while scouting for elk!
« on: September 29, 2008, 05:45:15 PM »
I was out scouting for elk back in Aug. and I was seeing a lot of bears, so I took the 25.06 one evening.  Walked up a nice little draw with a creek in the bottom.  I started noticeing a lot of wild raspeberries and said to myself, "self, this looks like a good spot to find a bear"  Not 10 seconds later this guy runs out of the brush not 10 yards from me and up onto a little hill about 30 yards away.  Once I figured out what it was I decided to shoot him.  So, I pulled up and put the crosshairs on the black and pulled the trigger.  After the warning shot, I pulled up about 6ft. higher on the hill where the bear actually was standing and shot him and he dropped right there.  I always like to give 'em a sporting chance.  I also figured out that a scope on 9 power at 30 yards doesn't work too well.

"self, this looks like a good spot to find a bear"
can't argue with a conversation like that.

Once I figured out what it was I decided to shoot him.  So, I pulled up and put the crosshairs on the black and pulled the trigger.  After the warning shot, I pulled up about 6ft. higher on the hill where the bear actually was standing and shot him and he dropped right there.
I might steal that reasoning

definitely gets the heart going when you get that close to them....I've had to use my "reasoning" skills a time or two in the past after warning shots...ha ha.
