hunting GPS maps ? opinions.

So if I download to my computer can I then put it on a card for my Garmin ?

I have the WA chip and am very happy with it. It works together with basecamp and Google Earth. They have lots of videos to see what it will do. I use the usb cord and/or plug the chip in my computer to view it. I might even buy Utah and Wyoming chip.

Now that Hunting GPS Maps is a sponsor on Hunting-Washington I wanted to answer a couple questions.

State specific maps have PLAT data with landowner names.  The regional maps just list private land as private.  Other than that the maps are identical.  DNR land is shown as a different color than surrounding ownership types such as timber companies, private land, forest service, etc. 

SD vs. Download.  Both can be viewed on your GPS and computer now and also updated through our website.  Benefit to SD is plug and play option so pretty easy to do.  The Download can be installed on the internal memory or on an SD card for your GPS. 

We are currently only missing 3 counties with land owner names:  Asotin, Jefferson, and Whitman.  We should be adding Jefferson on our next update in August.  The others two just aren't available yet.

My son had the Idaho map on his GPS and we liked it so well we are getting all the states that we hunt. Just loaded Washington yesterday on one of our GPS and it is working great.

I've had two incidents where individuals tried to tell me I was hunting on their land. One was an outfitter who threatened me while I was antelope hunting in Wyoming on public land. I told him "I'm on public land according to my GPS. If you wish to threaten me, I'd be glad to wait for the sheriff to sort it out. If you're wrong I will ask that you be cited for hunter harassment." He left.

I asked an enforcement officer there how reliable the software was. He told me they use the same software and would never cite anyone when the GPS showed them on public land.

How much more could one ask for?

So far love the WA PLAT map.  Is it possible to load satellite overlays on the micro SD version?
