TX Hog Hunting
« on: February 28, 2013, 09:59:14 AM »
hunting in Central Texas was a blast.  I went down with some friends and hunted for 4 days.  We caught ~15 hogs and killed a couple.  We only killed a couple little ones and one big tusker.  All knife hunting.

I took my mom one day...she had a blast!  Her first time ever hunting.  We had a big hog caught, but he ran the bulldog over and ran right past us at ~8 ft...no stopping him!  Got some excitment too!

I managed to talk my buddy out of a new hound/cur cross.  I am excited to try him.  He's 3/4 cur and 1/4 bluetick.

That looks like a blast.  Are you sure you don't want to sell me that pup?

Looks like a good time.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

HAHA- I had to do some talking to get my hands on him!  He was the pick of the litter and is from a great hog dog cross.  The parents are HARD hunting dogs.  I think he is going to smoke a bear track.  We will give him a chance.  I'll send him to Bucknaze on here to get tuned up.  If anyone can make a dog, he can.

Good looking pup! Nice tusker as well! That is on my list for this year as well. If I end up in texas like I am planning. I want to run some dogs and stick some pigs!
