orange for bear?

You don't for fall bear as long as there is no modern deer or elk. Havnt checked for sure , but doubt it.

I always do just ,because I look like a bear . I was bow hunting elk one year. A friend radioed and said he was watching me. I said I don't see you and he then said look across the at the road over a mile away. I could see a little truck. I looked with the bino's and yup I see you. He said he thought I was a bear going up the steep hill. That got me thinking. So I always wear hunters orange at least a hat.

Funny I was thinking about this earlier today. I've had a bullet wiz by me in the past so whether its required or not I think I will  have orange on the spring hunt. I know only 25 permits for all of Monroe but better to be safe IMO. At least an orange hat. I personally think orange has no effect on your odds of harvesting an animal. Noise and smell have much more of an effect.

dont meet many that do .  Also good idea to have some sort of orange to put on a bear after its down.  Never know who will start shooting at a black blob being packed out of the brush.

I keep some orange surveyor tape in the pack. When in the brush I would tape him up.

If you don't know about whether you need orange, there are other things you don't know. Please read and re-read the regs so you do.

I have no problem with questions, especially if regulations are unclear and often, they are and I'm the one asking. But not knowing the regs if you're going hunting may indicate a lack of respect for your quarry and can put our sport in a bad light when infractions are made public.

I like to pack orange hankie or two. Also comes in handy when you got to do your duty in the woods, hang it on a limb nearby.

I like the idea of tagging a branch or something when doing the knife work. If you think about it...being all hunched over and basically right on top of the animal you are less likely to be seen cleary by someone that may have their scope on you and is only seeing the bear.
