Broad head?
« on: March 15, 2013, 08:24:03 AM »
What's a good broad head for elk and bear ? I'm new to archery hunting for elk and bear but hunted deer with a bow with G5montec seems to work good on deer for sure just curious if I can still use the same broad head? I just want more of a challenge that's why I'm switching to archery now.

Very pleased with the results of the Montec G5. I'll be using it for bear, deer, and elk this year. I shoot the 100gr.

I have some VPA 3-blade heads that I will be using this year. They should do well. They are similar to the montec but with no welds. They are machined out of one solid piece.

Thought about trying this ones myself. But the montec's are easy to find at almost any store.

My bear last year had a complete pass thru and stuck in dirt bank about 10 yards away with the Montec G5. I didnt bullseye any bones so after a quick sharpening, it went back in my quiver for another shot.
They fly just as accurate as field points too.  :twocents:

Shuttle T-Lock , three bears and two elk.  Only one bear made it past two hundred yards after the hit but left me with an easy blood trail, the others 30-40 yards over and out.

I had great luck with the Thunderheads for 20 seasons, then last season I switched to the Shuttle T, worked great on my buck last season, gonna try it out on a spring bear this year.

I shot G5 Strikers this year and they did a number on my deer at 30 yards. I  was extremely impressed and wont switch until someone can convince me that there is a better one!
