blood trails with the montecs hasn't been stellar for me on the four deer i've shot with them.  bought some Shuttle-t's last year and the blood trail from it wasn't much, either (but that's likely due to the fact he was turned when i shot him and when he straightened out to run, his skin moved)

I use G5 Montec CS for deer and I'm happy with them. You do hear a few reports of blood trails going dry with the Montec though. You might want to go to a Striker with a slightly larger cutting diameter for elk and bear.

The magnum has 1 1/2 inch cutting diam, the striker is only 1 1/8. Id probably use the Magnum If I wanted a much larger wound.

True, but I shoot 100g and the Magnum is only available in 125g. Plus for me, more width is less accurate. 1 1/8 is good for elk and bear.

Your average 12 Gauge shotgun bore is .729"  That's pretty big, wouldn't you say?  Now figure your 1.125" broadhead is 65% larger than that shotgun bore.  Should be good enough IMO.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Make sure you have enough room on your shelf for the magnum. I have a 2012 Hoyt and the shelf is to small. I hit the tip of the blade of the side. I did shot it, and it hit my target right where i was aiming, but i noticed that when i pulled it back my arrow was moveing when the broadhead hit the side. If you want to try them I have a couple here i can work ya a deal on them. I wont use them
