I spend the time watching my kids now in sports.  I guess I have collected my fair share.  Every once in awhile I see a pic on here that rekindles the fire, but it just doesn't seem fun anymore, and it is just a bone.

Sounds like to me they were trying to run them into the timber in hopes of having them get their horns caught it the branches to make them come off .... I heard this before ... :bash:

There should be a shed hunting season.

So....maybe somebody can help me understand the level of fanaticsm some folks are going to. I'm speaking of the comments about chasing, harassing, and sometimes being offroad when not supposed to be. Now, I've not killed elk, will be going on my first elk hunt this year, have not shed hunted for their horns, and am not assuming I am some great hunter. However, are those that chase bone with such abandon that they are such poor hunters they are looking to hang a pair of antlers on the wall that way? Is it for profit that some act this way? Bragging rights only?

I quit shed hunting about 8 years ago, I still find sheds just not like I used to. Used to  enjoy getting out and having fun in the spring. Never pressured any of the elk . Just got to be too much of a competition . I think sheds should be illegal LOL , just like picking up deadheads LOL JK!!

I bet there will be a season within the next couple years. I think that most people didn't have a clue as to when the bucks and bulls started dropping. Now we have the internet and brag boards to let people know when it starts, so you get a higher concentration of people in a shorter period of time. I couldn't tell you that I don't look on here to see when the animals are droppin so that I'm not just wandering around lookin for horns that haven't hit the ground yet.

I dont think its got to do with being a bad hunter. Profit-yes. Bragging rights-yes. I think most of all its something people collect. My moose sheds are some of my most prized possessions of my outdoors stuff.

Got it......you may be right....may it a season with date specific restrictions and give the animals a break.
