Anyone know a good florist?
« on: March 18, 2013, 03:48:54 PM »
Well its almost been a year since my son has passed and my wife and I are planning a small memorial service for him, we were looking for a floral wreath as well as a floral cross to put up for him. I know they aren't cheap but I was hoping someone on here might know someone or perhaps has a significant other that does side work, just would rather pay someone from here than a store. If anyone has any leads that would help or perhaps even a recomendation of a affordable shop. Im located in Vancouver but dont mind traveling within reasonable distance for a affordable quality job. We unfortunately are both unemployed and I a student so the most bang for our buck would be our biggest thing due to limited budgets, I know flowers alone aren't cheap but I can scrape up funds somewhere, offer side work, labor or whatever it takes to make this happens as it would really mean a lot to me and even more to my wife.

Thanks everyone ! Any help is greatly appreciated!
Justin

Holy smokes.....man I'm a bit speechless....not what I was expecting.

May I make a suggestion....contact a local florist that has a good reputation and maybe ask if you can set up an "account". Maybe some folks could call the florist and put $20 on your account. Let it build up for a week or so then they could make up something nice for your and family.

Thanks h2o, ill keep that idea in mind, at this point though I want to come up with the cash on my own and not necessarily donations, call it pride or stubbornness I dont know but im sure you know what I mean or trying to convey. Both my parents already offered to take care of it but we want to take care of it ourselves for our son.

kenzmad,  I dont know if we can accept such a generous offer,  I was replying to h2o right when you sent that. I showed my wife and she started tearing up, everyone on this forum. Is generous and eager to help each other out. I was just hoping to get a lead on someone or perhaps some helpful information, I didn't think I would get this kind of response. Your offer is more heart warming than you'll ever know or could be expressed through a keyboard. Thank you

shadowless nite, lots of great folks on here.

Pick a local florist and explain your situation. They will probably work with you and help create something that fits your need. Sorry to hear of your story. Good luck, god bless.

Tell you what. Come up to Kent, work with me for the day. I have to pay you for the work you did. Or take the offer. You have other things to worry about that most of us couldn't dream of.

Wish I could help direct you to a florist. I'll try to remember to check around at work tomorrow to see if anyone has any ideas.

Shadowless, please do not think of this as charity. We are one group united by a common hobby/obsession. We are all family here. There are some really nice folks here that would love to help you out. I understand the whole male pride thing but if you need us, we are there for you.

kenzmad,
thanks again, I know I shouldnt feel like its a charity, but in all honesty I think its only partially the male pride but mostly the feeling of being indebted to someone for what theyve given us. I would rather earn it first. I know its one thing if forget your lunch and someone offers you a piece of their sandwich, but an offer as generous as yours and the others off here are hard to repay and I would much rather earn first. I would be glad to take your offer to work for you. You will have a pm thank you sir.

Since the day it happened I felt like I should just curl up in a ball and shut everything out, but the world doesnt stop turning just because you want it to, and when your other 2 children and wife need a rock to lean on you have to be there. Every now and then I just wish I could stop and shut everything out and just think about him. But Im always moving at 100mph trying to get everything done, between trying to finish my last leg of prerequisites for nursing, trying to make ends meet with bills and raising two children all while trying to maintain a somewhat normal 25 year old lifestyle. Its the things like the people on here and our friends and family that have kept my world from spinning out of control and let me live  life. A great example is the help I got for my skokomish tag this last season. The information was priceless as the time and money it saved me was priceless for me and my family. Im not as seasoned as most on here but I try to contribute what knowledge that I have and any help I can to whomever in hopes of the same when I need some knowledge. Im on a few other forums but the people on those dont even compare to the ones here. Thank you all for your support through the years it has been a lifesaver!

Yes my wife does floral work she has her own floral company I can run it past her and see what sort of a deal she can hook you guys up with. She does floral wreaths and can most likely do a floral cross too and whatever else is needed. Pm me for contact info if your still looking.

Shadow.....

I wish you the best with this. I have kids and even though they drive me crazy every now and then I would be lost without them. Can't even imagine what parents go through when losing a child and wouldn't wish anyone know. Don't look at the offers of help as charity....look at them as offers of support.

No one's child should precede them.
Please Shadowless, let us help you guys a little bit.  It would mean a lot to those of us who can't even begin to feel the pain you two must have/are going through.
I cannot even fathom where I would be if I lost one of my daughters.

I'm speechless on multiple levels. I can't imagine losing a child. I am sorry and my family will send prayers to yours.

Kenzmad-you are an amazing individual. Your generosity towards this family is truly inspiring. Thank you.
