Just installed a new Cable slide, is this right?
« on: March 18, 2013, 10:00:33 PM »
Just installed a new teflon cable slide by limbsaver (SIMS) and Im wondering If its the right one, Is the string supposed to be pulled over to the right side like that? This new one has alittle bit more arch to the right then the last one and the notches are offset alittle more.  But yeah, does it look right, or Do I need a deeper groove? Or is the string supposed to be perfectly vertical?  :dunno: :dunno:

looks good to me.... If there is no interference while shooting your good to go... Have your girl watch the arrow/ fletchings as you shoot into a target to make sure there is no contact.  :twocents:
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Without seeing the way it comes off the cam it looks good to me!  About time for some new cables though.  Sending you some new peep tubing.  That stuff looks a little heavy and too thick.

Virgin teflon slides like Sims and RAM are one of the cheapest and easiest ways to improve your bows consistancy in all weather conditions.  The cheap ones manufacturers put on their bows have given cable guards a bad name.  When a simple replacement of the quality you have there will shoot every bit as good and often better than a roller guard.  They are mandatory around our place.  I generally replace the slide on every bow I work on.  I'm surprised good bow shops don't do it on every single cable guard bow that goes out their door.  Good upgrade Smossy

If you are close enough to a critter that a white cable slide is concerning...shoot the dang thing.  He's close enough to kill!

Good upgrade Smossy
Thanks to your advice  Had to go get a new one. See if that solves my problem we talked about. Plus The old one is casted out of 2 piece plastic and looks like garbage. Totally different material.

I did a couple full draws without dry firing and everything seems to look good, The strings dont touch and the new cable slide is stopping about an inch or so from the end of the slide shaft. "Not sure what its called yet".

Cabelas. It was $15.99 for the cable slide. Waiting to get the restring though myself. Couldnt believe the price of winners choice custom color string since last year, Price has increased easily 50%
Sportsmans Warehouse quoted me about $220 for custom color 3 string.  :yike: For now my string shoots fine. lol Ill wait untill I get a manage to find a job.

smossy was your stock cable slide that long?  Mine is very small and holds the cables close to the rod, with a long one like you got the cam lean would be less, but I'd have less fletch clearance too.

Are you talking about the white thing? Or the fiberglass/composite shaft that it seats onto?
