Bow hunting turkey regulations
« on: March 19, 2013, 12:58:25 PM »
I just read the spring turkey pamphlet and noticed that it states:

“It is illegal to possess in the field or transport game birds unless a feathered head is left attached to each carcass, except falconry-caught birds”

So my question is, I just went out and bought the Magnus Bullheads which from what I have seen often decapitate the bird. Does the above regulation mean that you can’t possess a decapitated bird or if it is decapitated you must keep the head with the body?

I assume it is the second one but I have no idea what they are thinking when they write some of these??

I was curious I had to call WDFW and ask. The basic answer was the intent is to not decapitate the bird but they understand that it does happen. So if it does do your best to keep the head with the body.

Seems pretty clear to me :o

Visible Beard is all you need to shoot one, so no head w/a a visible beard will be OK.
