Carp fishing....near Snohomish county

So.....was thinking that it would be fun to take my son for some carp fishing and generate some crab bait. Anyone know a close place for that near Lake Stevens or the general snohomish county.

  Many years ago we tried some freshwater trash fish for crab bait (Suckers & carp).  Did not do very well at all with them.  What I'm saying is you may be disappointed with what they produce.


  Betcha bear innards and fat would draw them in...

Anything they're not used to eating usually has good results. Chicken, Lasagna in a chum bag, Small children. You know... The usual

Launch in Kenmore once the water starts warming up and hit the shallows around the mouth of the slough.....plenty of other species to be easily caught at the same time in the same general area with slightly different gear.

If you want some squawfish....oops....I mean Northern Pikeminnow for crab bait....I can probly hook you up around June. We have given it to friends and they say it works great for crab. We keep saying we are going to give crabbing a try and we never make it happen.

I use to see lots of 30+ pounders there. They come close to shore to spawn. There are a sh-t load in greenlake to. I was told to use wonder bread and corn meal. roll in a ball around the hook 12" leader with a swivel,egg sinker,bobber, and also place a bobber stop 15-20 ft up the line. You want the sinker to hit bottom and the bobber on the surfice with extra line before the stop. this gives the carp time to eat and run to set the hook. This is what I was told by the guys at greenlake many years ago. Good luck

Very interesting setup. Id like to give it a try, got a diagram of how this looks by any chance? Id like to see it.

Green Lake carp was my favorite fishery every year until i moved. All you need is corn, that is it. Toss a handful out, cast 2 corn kernels on a small single egg hook. Then wait, and keep your bail open 
 
Right now is prime time on the lake. Pre spawn right now and those carp are feeding like crazy.

Carp may or may not be good for crab pots, BUT is is very good catfish bait.  We slayed them with small fillets of carp on the Palouse last year.
