They make combo red/amber lights.
I have them on the fenders of my horse trailer.

I was given a warning by a WSP officer and was given this definition,  that is why I also posted the RCW.  What the poster is considering are just marker lights and as long as they are not white and can be seen from the the rear of the vehicle should be fine.

You posted information on spot lamps/ auxiliary lamps, which is not clearance lights. I would like to see the set up that you got warned about.

If you can see your amber lights from the rear, I think you're illegal. They must be RED if you can see the light from the rear.

Absolutely correct. 

Incorrect.  Take a look at most import cars' turn signals.....amber.

True, but the discussion is about clearance lights not turn signal lens color.   :)

Clearance lights are on continuesly, turn signals can be amber because they are only visible when indicating a turn is being made.  I believe that is the difference.
It is better to be consistently incorrect than inconsistently correct...
