Rimrock bull tag
« on: July 20, 2007, 09:21:00 AM »
Anyone have any information about this unit they would like to help me with? I have been to the unit a couple of times but not hunting. My friend had a Archery bull tag last year and seen some bulls but never got one. I will be talking with him but any info will help.

I have the Muzzleloader tag and the hunt runs Oct 1st-10th.

Do you think the bulls will still be rutting?

thanks
Craig

I've never hunted that area, but yes, I do believe the bulls will be in the post rut, and a hot cow/estrus call will work real well in that time frame.  Congrats on the tag.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.

I drew for the same unit, same tag. The unit terrain varies. You can go high above timber or mid. The weather will play a role here. Hope for some moisture and cooler temps. Last year temps were in the 70's for the same time frame. When its that warm the elk limit their movement. First two hours of the day and the last two hours of the daylight. It is a good unit and produces some very respectable bulls every year. I am trying to convice myself that I am in good enough shape to do it myself and hike in.  :dunno:That will be interesting!! I had a friend who punched his tag a couple of years ago on a nice 6x6.  Good luck to you!!

I didn't draw a tag for that area, but plan to hunt rifle season anyway. Hunted there a few years now. Lots of elk, bunch of people too.
