Yep, pretty interesting colors on that hide.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Awesome color, congrats on your first. If you wouldn't mind telling us what unit it was in, I would appreciate it. I saw one just like that about a week or so ago and just couldn't get close enough with the bow. I was hoping to get up there and try and find him after muzzy season. If it is the same area I will have to look for another bear.

well i was on the high buck hunt and my uncle shot one that was about 175 the day before(he saw 3 together) it was the last day we were spending up there and we got a really late start. i think i shot it around 11. It was already hot and we were going for a sight seeing trip just to look down at some of the beautiful alpine lakes when my uncle spotted it. We both thought it was small just because of the ears but i really didn't think he was that small. it was only about 80 yards out, and the first shot when right over him. he acted dazed so i thought i hit him, but he ran about 20 feet and stopped. The second shot hit the spot though. When i walked up he was dead, but that is when a realize how small he was. my step dad and best friend were about 1200 yards away and i picked it by the neck and butt to show them. It was fun little hunt, but the flys within 2 hours had already got eggs in the fur. I think i got almost all of them but when i flesh and dry it there will be another couple washes in store.

They're tough to judge man. My first bear, I thought was a big one...till I got up to it and it was about the same size as yours!

They called me "Cub scout" in camp...but thats ok...a trophy is a trophy. I think they were just jealous as no one else in camp got a bear that year (we were deer hunting).

Good work.
