Grizzly 700

I have a 2007 grizzly 700 and I have a terrible rattling sound when I fire it up. So far we have eliminated an internal engine problem so now I am moving on to the clutch so far I have got the sheaves off but I am having a hell of a time pulling off the bearing cover! My question is has anyone ever had any problem with a clutch in one of these? Mine only has about 2500 miles! Any help would be great thanks.

Could be the primary clutch, but I'd wager a beer its just a heat sheild on the pipe.

We pulled the heat shield and it still rattled. The sound was not coming from that that side of the motor either. Also one thing I forgot to mention in the first post was that the atv seemed to act like it had a govoner on it. But the rattling would stop for a second and the atv would take off like nothing was wrong than it would start again and kill the power.

yank the primary clutch, it's borked   (assuming the engine is OK as you say)

I know a bit about snowmobile clutches, but that grizzly has a funky clutch I haven't been into one yet.

Sounds like yours isn't shifting properly,  it would be kind of roughly like starting from a stop sign with your car in 4th gear.

I also have the 07 grizz, and I've already had to replace the rectifier (i think it's called that). If you end up replacing that make sure you get the updated one that has a return tube for cooling it, the old ones don't have a return tube and that causes them to heat up. I know it has nothing to do with what your dealing with but just for your information in the future, with 2500 miles on it I'm shocked you haven't had any problems with it. Mine went out after only 800 miles. I have a constant problem with mine that clems in Enumclaw can't seem to find or fix, I wonder if you guys might know something about it. The problem is, sometimes when I'm driving along the reverse light comes on and the bike looses half it's power- like it thinks it's in reverse. It only last a couple seconds then snaps back to normal, it can go for weeks without it happening then for no reason it starts acting up again. Any thoughts??

was reading about the reverse light problem others were having and i beleive they were saying it was the switch? There is a whole site with lots of info on it all about grizzlys. There is other wheeler threads also but its mostly a grizzly forum. grizzlycentral.com lots of info in there!

Ok so I went through the clutch and every thing seemed to be in good condition so I am going to order new seals, sheaves, and a new V belt and see if it was the sheaves and the V belt causing the loss of power. On a side note I would not recommend firing up the motor with the wet clutch cover removed! The bike will shoot oil all over your leg!    Once I get the new parts I am going to put it back together and keep my finders crossed that the problem is fixed!

I will take some pictures and up load them of the internals if you guys want but all and all it was not that hard to take the clutch apart and this is coming from a guy who is by far any thing but mechanically inclined!

Well I got all my replacement parts in and got everything installed today and the damn thing is still rattling to beat all hell so I took it up to a mechanic and he thinks it might be the valves so I guess I will have to wait for his call to see what the actual problem is!

And I forgot to take pictures of the putting the clutch back together so sorry guys my bad!

if just the valves need adjusted that is a easy fix, hope the mechanic dosent charge to much for that, fairly simple job there.
