4 years ago when I purchased a 40ac tract out near pontiac ridge I witnessed from my tree stand a single wolf chase down a whitetail fawn about 30yds away. I was able to view about 80yds of the chase before they went out of site. Also, before I purchased the property I was hiking all four corners and started to creep down an old logging rd towards a rotten smell and found a half rotted wolf carcass. It was a big wolf with a gun shot to the head. Now I believe thats a federal offense. I didn't think to say much of it being that I became suspicious of the soon to be new to me north boundary neighbors. After I purchased the land I came back to visit the site about a week later and there was not a single trace of the carcass....not even any hair or bones. A neighbor down the road told me that out here on pontiac ridge some have adopted the shoot shovel and no tell law. I hope karma catches up with whoever committed that crime. I know wolves may be seen as a nuisance but man alive to see that wolf chase that fawn down was mother nature unspoiled....very beautiful in its own respect.

Give me a break. If Mother Nature was unspoiled you would not be there spoiling it with your presence. I see nothing beautiful about a wolf eating a fawn alive. At least a cougar kills before eating.
What's wrong with the shoot shovel and shut up rule
I separated this off the topic where it was originally posted to prevent taking that thread off-topic. I am wondering if the OP has any photos and where Pontiac Ridge is located?
Nature unspoiled? The mine at the top with the paved rd leading up from toroda cr really is pristine and beautiful, not to mention that pontiac ridge is not very unpopulated compared to the surrounding area, not saying a wolf or wolves would not pass through there and pick up a scooby snack on the way, but remain there i kinda doubt.. my bs meter is on high...MtnMuley what do you think?*They do play some mean banjo music up there though..
I don't know if I should be irritated by this guy loving wolves or happy that someone shot the wolf? My emotions are confused
Or he could be a troll trying to provoke people.
I like how these guys post these weird stories and then we never hear from them again.

"Pontiac Ridge" is an eyesore to me. Bunch of crazies from all corners is the best I can desrcribe it. A place I have no desire to ever roam again.

Just the name "Pontiac Ridge" sounds like a place pot smoking hippies would live, and I've never even heard of the place until now.
are you sure it was a wolf?? Those bunny hugging mountain hippies up there have been raising hybreeds wolf/dogs for years and letting them go.. Its killing our deer population! Nothing natural about some wolf loving fried out hippie planting wolf dogs on pontiac ridge..
So how did the shooting of the grouse hunter end, haven't heard if there ever was an arrest.
Lol. It's been so long and I forgot I ever posted this thread. I usually never log in. I juts like reading everyone's topics in the deer hunting section. I was new to the site and just said what I saw without thinking it would make anyone think I'm crazy or worse make anyone irritated. I was in a stand that was already existing on the property. It was the first fall after I bought it. When I was hiking around the property to check all the survey stakes I had noticed a foul smell off of an old skid road. Found the smell and it was a very large dog. Too big to be a coyote and not one to be of the domesticated type. I would say it could have been 75 lbs or larger. It had a pass threw shot through its vitals. I didn't have a camera or think to bring one. It was located at the north east corner of the property that bordered a neighboring 20 ac piece to the north and DNR directly east. After we had bought the property I went back to it a week later. Hiked up to that corner where I found that large dog and found that there were absolutely no remains of it but within a 10 foot radius was another large dog dead with a pass through shot of its vitals, that again looked like it was 75lbs or larger. I've seen pictures of Grey Wolves and these two I had seen looked like spitting images. Fast forward to archery opener and witnessed a large dog that looks like a grey wolf chasing a white tail fawn. To be ridiculed for saying nature unspoiled, well I guess me being there spiked nature but I was merely just saying because I'd never witnessed mother any close to that experience in the wild. Again call bulls hit but I've got nothing to lie about I don't gain anything by that. Just saw the topic of wolves and would see if it's possible that they were. These dogs dwarfed coyotes so whether they are yocal hybrids or the real thing thought it wouldn't hurt any to put my observations on the wolf topic to let the ones with the expertise give me an idea what I was seeing. Also, didn't know any history of Pontiac Ridge before buying. It's been pretty peaceful so far but have heard some stories for sure. I'm within the vicinity of where Pontiac Ridge Rd continues passed the turn for cow camp road runs north. Didn't mean to offend anyone. I dislike wolves for similar reasons you all have as well.
