My first thought was to sell it with my other furs but considering its not going to be worth too much and because its my first cat, I plan to just have it tanned and put on the wall. Thankfully Bruce stopped by and helped me skin it properly for a possible future rug.

Super stoked!
I have been trapping for almost 2 months now and I have been getting used to seeing my trap doors always open. I was kinda shocked to see it closed this morning because it had only been sitting in that spot for 48 hours. Even more shocked to see a very large kitty in there staring back!

Heres a few pics of my setup. He actually mangled the door a little bit but not too bad. My other side of the cage has 1/2" x 1" and wasnt messed up at all so I think I may build the next traps with the smaller mesh on the ends. Thankfully the ducky made it thru the ordeal without any abuse so he'll get used again.  :chuckle:

Congratulations!  I remember how elated I was when I got my first cat and I get almost that excited when I get one now.
A few beaver scraps and some salmon oil. I know visual attractants really help with cats so I put a small yellow rubber ducky in the back of the cage as well. I would imagine ducklings are big part of bobcat diets this time of year so I figured it couldnt hurt to try. Not sure if that was the deciding factor for the cat or not but I am gonna use them from now on.
That is great thinking.  Domestic cats LOVE to get in boxes and LOVE toys that look/act like helpless little snacks.  I've been told Eastern WA cats get caught more because they are hungry, so irresistible new box and toy combo along with food bait could still catch Western WA cats even if they AREN'T all that hungry.  Hmmm.
