You have to be careful with the encore contender rifles because it is technically illegal use them as a pistol.

I have the TC in 30/30 with 14 barrel and a 2.5 scope. I've taken deer and antelope over 100 yards.  You should see the looks I get when I carry it in my shoulder holster. It's a hoot to shoot.   :IBCOOL:

If this was directed as me, yes you are correct.  I have enough problems without adding possession of a SBR added to them!!  They certainly do make it easy to break some rules though.

I've owned and shot a 22, 22mag, 221 fireball, 6.5 TCU, 6.5 JDJ, 7x30 Waters, 30-30, 309 JDJ, 338 JDJ, 375 JDJ, 45/410, and 45-70.  I have sold the 6.5 TCU, 30-30, 309 JDJ, and 45-70.

It's definitely addictive.

If I was to buy one a predator/deer barrel that I could buy ammo for I would buy a 7x30 Waters or the 6.8 SPC. Overkill for yotes but would easily handle a big cat if you called one in.

If you reload then I'd look for a 6.5 TCU. Originally designed for silhouette shooters but has killed plenty of deer and predators.

I now use my 18" 6.5 JDJ as a carbine for predator hunting and it is easily a 250yd deer round.

Wasn't directed at anyone specific. I have 2 Encore rifles and really want a pistol. Truth be told, nothing would probably ever happen, but I won't do it anyway. Should have picked up 1 that started life as a pistol, then I could do it either way. Oh well, live and learn.

Got it.  I know that there are many people who would probably not even blink an eye at putting the pistol barrel on the rifle or changing it up unaware of the law.

7x30 is awesome for deer, but for me the best shooter has been a super 14 .223. I have shot several 3/4" groups....its unreal for a pistol.
