« on: October 02, 2008, 03:43:38 PM »
Recently got a lab and woundered what is best to teach them. Retrieval is in his blood already and is not affected by gun noise. This is the most loyal dog i have had......only 7months old. :)

Just start with the basic obedience.  Here, stay, sit, heel.......

Got any pics......I love seeing lab pictures. :)
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

You can get the retriever training by tri tronics, great book. It walks you step by step. Gun dog is a good book as well, you just can't pay attention to the "time lines" because, every dog is different. It also helps to join the retriever clubs in your area or a training group. Lots of people out there with dog advice :-)

If you want a fail proof dog then your gonna wanna force fetch him and there are plenty of good books on that. Mean while basic obedeance. Whislte sit, hand signals, fun retrieves. Hup. Working in and out of the blind. Anyways have fun with the pup would like to see pic's.
