The Yakama tribe better get in there and kill those wolves. They're going to eat all the tribe's trophy elk.   :yike:

goes without saying that this is not good for the colockum/mission/swakane/entiat/entire wenatchee valley hunting.  what amazes me is the copious amounts of ignorance by the wolf loving leaf lickers. one person said that this will "manage the elk herd and make them stronger" and that "the elk herd in yellowstone is at an all time high" of coarse im paraphrasing.

yeah the colockum herd is doing so well that it is one of the most regulated herds in the entire state (im not pointing fingers just saying)

and the yellowstone elk herd is so vivacious and prominent that even park bios are saying that the elk are at an all time low mostly due to introduction of wolves. ask anyone that elk hunts in MT, WY, or ID about the elk numbers and i almost guarantee that they will tell you that they are dissmal. i heard it myself here in Bozo every elk hunter i talked to last season said they saw more wolves/wolf sign than elk

That puts them a 2 hour drive from my back door. Another hour to Seattle give or take a few minutes for traffic.

I don't have any evidence of any over here by me. Wenatchee is closer than any of the alleged reports from this side that I've ever seen. Except that one that was reported in North Bend. That one is closer than Wenatchee but I think he might have fell out of a truck or something on it's way east.

Like I've said many times before, I saw three wolves near Lake Wenatchee in 1990, so wolves being in the Wenatchee area certainly is not just a recent phenomenon. I'm surprised it took them this long to get into the Colockum.

I am truly surprised that no one has begun to poison these wolves off....

It's only a matter of time.  Then the wolves will get sympathy and no doubt any talks of hunting them will be shelved.  I hope I'm wrong.

Are you talking lead or Strychnine poisoning? I am surpised that more people aren't finding a way to smuggle it to control the wolf populations. Heck it worked back in the day!

No need to smuggle strychnine when you can pick up ethylene glycol by the gallon at any corner mart.

I think Parvo would work better.   I am hearing rumors that they got a cow as in beef in the last day or so.  Waiting to find the report.

There's a thread on here, Doug. Not a rumor.

Wow....What is almost as interesting as the wolves being in Pritcher Canyon is a nice bull elk.  I spend a lot of time in them thar hills and have never seen an elk that low before.  I guess with the weather and wolves  they could be in my yard soon (east wenatchee).   :chuckle:

I used to hear Elk in the winter in the orchards and pastures south of my house.  Orchards are pretty much gone now--houses there now.  Used to hear coyotes answering the sirens on the emergency vehicles from the side of Stemilt Hill.  haven't heard them lately--guess now I know why... >:(

It's only about a 10 mile jaunt for the pack to get to the Coffin which is the mostly off-limits to people elk preserve.
That's like an all-you-can-eat gig for two groups right there.

It's not gonna be much of a Reserve anymore, is it?

Unless the wolves learn how to read, and stay out because the signs say no hunting.  (trespassing, guns, traps ,or dogs)

Fixed it for ya!   Don't forget true spike only when they're reading
