Multi-season/Special draw tags, how does it work?

Id have to find somewhere that had no-shows to where I could walk in and fill seats. Otherwise nope. Theyre all too far 2-4 hour drives. And im not trying to do the online course crap, i actually wanna learn some stuff.

I think you can still apply for a multi-tag as long as you have a back-up of another person you will hunt with that qualifies as a hunter's ed deferrment.  Then you can apply, get the tag....complete hunter's ed and then be good to hunt solo.  The deferrment buddy would cover you from now until you complete hunter's ed.

You guys are all gonna think im dumb but whats OIL, and what exactly will i not be able to apply for? The multi season? Or the other special game? Id like to atleast get a 2nd deer tag, i got a great lead on a spot. Is that doable?

No. The only permits you'll be able to apply for are moose, sheep and goats.

Better then nothing I guess. If i didnt draw a tag which is very likely, do those stack points for the following year or no?

If somebody that lives close to Smossy were inclined, they could sign up with him for the one year, hunter ed deferral, so he could purchase a license and get started in the drawings before the cut-off date....he could still take the course then as scheduled.

Possible downside may be the requirement for the hunters to still hunt together come fall if he passed hunter's ed and got his certificate between times???  Don't know if having the certificate would change that or not...but just an idea to toss out to help him get into all the permit drawings without having to wait another year.

Yes. Thats why you should do it...start building points now.

So what, person x would basically be my temporary field teacher for that year then? Im getting the class done this year one way or another. I have too many things to do as far as hunting goes to risk passing it up.

It's legit.

I've done it with 2 kids in the past. I sign as their leader or mentor or escort or whatever they call it. I had to stay within X distance of them and they could get hunting license and hunt. The 1st kid I went with, his dad was in Iraq and couldn't get him into hunters ed in time. He came home from overseas in September and I had the kid all dialed in and ready to hunt come October. I just had to be with him at all times. Whoever is the leader has to have had a hunting license for the last 3 consecutive years. His dad didn't buy a license the year he was in Iraq so I did it for them.

Interesting, Ive never heard of this, but then again it would have to be a fellow bowhunter as I cant play with guns anymore. Ill have to look into it alittle. Anyone know the specific name or RCW in relation?

You're only going to be archery hunting anyway, so drawing a permit isn't critical, unless you want to hunt bull elk on the east side. But it sounds like you'll be staying close to home. You'll be fine with just the general season hunts. Not that you don't want to start building some points. But I wouldn't go too much out of your way to try to do so.

Hit the nail on the head. I do think the multi season permit could be of great use to him though, the more field time the better. Ull get three seasons of learning in one.
