Tomorrow is the day
« on: March 26, 2013, 08:30:36 PM »
So I have been saving and doing tons of research on all the new bows. I'm heading out tomorrow to shoot all the brands I'm interested in. Hoyt, Elite, Bowtech and Mathews. I think in that order too. Hopefully it all works out and I post a few pics tomorrow night. If not maybe I will, at the very least have one on order. If you guys have any input, I would love to hear it. I know they have all had their problems and I would love to hear how the companies are to deal with if you have an experience with them.

I know bowtech mainly deals with there dealers only. They normaly wont talk to the public that said ive had great experiance with them sending parts and helping out. I havent talked to or done any warrenty work with the other brands listed. I do own a new bowtech though and love it.

D-Rock, I am kinda partial to Hoyt, with that said I'm trying to be unbiased and picking the bow that feels the best to me. I'm going to Fletch Setter in Rainer, he has a Spyder 30 with a #2 Cam in stock, Then I'm going to drive on down to Lucky Shot, I have been wanting to shoot the Elites for awhile and they just became a dealer a couple months ago. I also want to try the Experience and the Chill as well. Demontang, I did shoot an insanity the other day and I was really impressed. It felt really good, and was fast. Me having a 26.5 to 27 draw length, I still got good speed out of it. The limb finish kinda concerns me with the insanity though.

The limb finish kinda concerns me with the insanity though.

I was always a bit worried about that too.  But so far I have not had any issues with any Bowtech finish since they started Waterdog.  Have had my fair share of issues with Hoyt and PSE finishes.  But nothing ever enough to make me choose a bow or not choose a bow over it.

I was looking to buy an new bow last jan/feb, shot a total of 16 diff. Bows many multiple times . I shot Hoyt for years and decided to try and go in with an open mind and just shoot as many brands as possible.Came down to a Vector(hoyt) and the Insanity(bowtech), I ordered the Insanity, but would have been equally happy with the hoyt, It was all about how the bow felt to me...

Had My insanity for over a year now and have zero flaking and I shoot every couple days...

Thanks for the inputs guys, just waiting for the shops to open, it good to hear you have had any problems with the flaking, like I said, it seems all the company's have their problems, I'm just going to get the one that feels best to me. I'm not going to let marketing sell me a bow

I havent had any flaking yet on my insanity. I do like other brands of bows its just a matter of what you like in a bow. Good luck in your search

Well it was a very tough to choose. I spent all day debating between the Spyder 30 and the Mathews Chill. In the end, I chose the Spyder. Both were great bows, I like the draw cycle of the spyder a little better. So if anyone needs some company shooting, especially at Skookum, just let me know. I can't wait to get it to the range and spend some time with it.

Hoyt in the house!  I would have bought the 34 personally but the 30 will shoot too.

I see that your in Orting. If you ever want to meet up at Tacoma Sportsmans Club for some shooting and conversation let me know! Im fairly new into the sport of archery/hunting myself but love every second of it and never fail to learn something new. Need to put some time into this full membership anyhow before my woman beats me :chuckle:
Just today, I learned that one of my buddies who I always hike with, Dudes in pretty good shape... Couldnt even draw back my 62lb to save his life when I can do it like its nothing 50-100x a day. I was gonna try to bring him into archery and maybe hunting with me, but were going to have to start him out with something in the 50lb range. Id say this guy is stronger then me absolutely, But It takes a different strength to pull back a bow solidly. Never woulda thunk it.

I just picked up the spyder turbo and can't be happier. The draw is awesome on it. Thought it was at my normal 65# draw. Shot it all night before I checked and it was at 72#!!! Felt a little heavier but so smooth. It was around 300fps with 425 gr arrows too
