Drew an Umptanum l cow tag. Have been scouting area on the weekends and found elk and left them alone. The past few days activity in the area(atv's etc.) has scared them out of area. Any general reccomendations to find elk in Umpatnum (unit 342)?
Thanks

I have some good ideas as to where to go. I will be up there on opening day. The area I hunt is inaccesable by atv. send me a pm and we can discuss possibly meeting up. The area I hunt is better if there are three people.

I hope you jump on the offer ribka! I know that area too, but can't think of any country were you can get away from the others. Maybe if you hunt the country where an elk would have to be packed uphill. Let us know how your hunt went.

Thanks for the responses. I know where elk can generally be found but trying to get away from atv's and other hunters.I enjoy hunting for the experience as much as taking game. Trying to find area where can get away from the crowds and am more than willing to pack elk out of rough areas. Might be able to hook up the guy who offered help
