Depending on how long and hard you want to hike down on the Tatoosh Wilderness Trail is a good area to see some elk, and hiking around to the South end of Packwood lake is a good spot to see a good sized herd

there were about 50 hanging out in the fields at the begginning of Teannaway Rd, all day yesterday 

I think last years fires have them confused,    there 6 or 8 roaming in my back yard just off 97 all weekend.
