« on: March 28, 2013, 07:51:38 PM »

We live in Puyallup and are willing to drive a couple hours, and hike in as far as it takes! She has a good camera and ill post some pics if we see some. Im just trying to get her interested so she can see why im so obbsessed!!Lol

Winston would be good, and the Toutle would be a good option as well.

if you just want to see some elk drive around Ryan Road in Buckley any day just after daybreak.  I work at the Rainier School at the end of the road and see herds of 20+ almost every day.  only about 1/2 hour from puyallup

Though theres not much hiking involved, I drive 30-50 miles up Lewis river road once a week and have seen alot of elk every week since January, some days close to 100 head.

Theres actually a yelm heard, If you just want to view actual wildlife and not zoo creatures. Im not sure where they are right about now but if you travel around the roads by the eatonville cuttoff road you have a good chance of spotting them in fields. Probably not the experience your looking for but its pretty close to puyallup.

We saw 5 different heards on our way to our hike up Umtanum Ridge  a few weekends ago.  I really want to show her what its like to see them in the woods, in a clearcut, in timber just on foot. But thanks for all the suggestions guys

Good amount up in the Mashel.  Have seen herds from Eatonville all the way up to Ashford.  Skate Creek and Hwy 7 from Elbe to Morton. all around Morton up to Packwood.
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

 8) i have an elk spot Im going to hunt. But they won't be there for a few more months. I keep taking her out scouting my spots but I think she's getting bored with looking at game trails , piles of poop, and year old rubs lol. But if I stumble upon a new area that might become another spot  :dunno:
