Congrats. Great looking pup you have. Looks like she's gonna be a nice bird dog for you.

I'll never get over what guys in the PNW can charge for pointing dog training though.

What does transporting the dog east cost if you're training for two or three months?

About $275 for the airlines and up to $425 for Gun Dog Express.  The airlines are cheaper but there are temperature restrictions.  Gun Dog Express is supposed to be great but their schedules aren't on demand.  I'll probably use them this summer to get my dog from Atlanta to Winner SD for camp.  Door to door for $325.  "Most" trainers out here and in the Midwest are $350-$600 a month, and many don't charge for birds either.  Unfortunately my trainer moved his home base to NE for the abundance of wild birds and the amount of land he can train on.  But that means shipping my dog at least twice a year for training and trials.  It's still worth it though.

I'm not surprised by it. Look at the price of houses and land out here relative to other parts of the country (ie-the mid west) and consider how many people are willing to get into debt over their eyeballs for 1200 square feet on a postage stamp.

Retriever training is no trip to the dollar store either, but a well trained dog is, shall we say, priceless.  We were going to send our girl to NW Performance this week, but she came into heat so we are waiting a bit.

I think you may have hooked me up with him. Have been very pleased with all our contacts with him and the videos we have seen of his work with rosie. Would have paid more. Found it very reasonable
