Dont take your bow and have it worked on at sportsmans in puyallup!

I got a new bow on wed. It was set at 65lbs. I headed down to sportsman's to have them put it to 70lbs and wanted to have it paper tuned. The guy we normally have work on bows was out because he broke his hip. The guy behind the counter took my bow and walked into the back there where the bow press is. I was talking to another guy that was having his bow worked on. 5 min later the shop guy comes back and told me I didn't see you had to loosen up those screws on the side before you crank the bow down. He said "don't worry I didn't crank on it before I loose end the bolts. He then took the bolts out. then cranked down one side more than the other. He then started walking to the back to go see what he adjusted it to. I took off back there and told him he was doing it wrong! He had one side almost all the way down and the other side had about an 1/8 in left be fore it was down. (limb pockets). He then told me he had never worked on that kind of bow.  I told him to put the screws back in and I would go somewhere else. He couldnt get the screws back in and had them starting to cross thread. I asked the gun guy if they had anyone else there that could help and he looked at me and said If I was you I would go to sportco!  He told me he wouldn't have that guy do anything to a bow     I grabbed my bow and the screws that were out. Then went to sportco in fife and had the guy there fix it.    The guy there at sportco told me he had another guy come in 2 hrs. before me and had to fix his bow also after taking it to sportsman's.  HOW DO THEY HAVE A GUY WORKING THERE IF HE DOESNT KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING?

I'm really sorry you had such a bad experience at the Puyallup store.  Unfortunately Rod fell off a motorcycle and broke his hip before he had a chance to finish training that young man.  Until Rod gets back come and see me at the Federal Way location for your help.  I'm still really short handed, but I know how to work on bows.

Yeah Rod not don. Dunno why i thought that, crappy memory. That sucks though sorry to hear that. I had a feeling it was the new guy that probably made the mistake. Simple lack of experience is all. Gotta start somewhere i guess. If you guys need any staff help down there at the new store shoot me a message,ai dont have much experience but Im definetly looking for work.

Sorry to hear that ,I got mine bow there and the two kids did excellent job IMHO on installing the peep ,adjusting,paper tuning and setting me up with other stuff .

Ill have to say yeah to that. Hes been one of few "rod" thats actually ever touched my bow. Has 30+ years experience I think he said. Just gotta know who and not who to give it to I guess. Not that Im nockin the guy for doing a nono but If i could and was working in a sports department Id atleast do research on the items I work on. Lots of resources out there.

I agree with this. There are some guys that know what they are doing. There is an older guy in there that really seems to know his stuff but you never know when it comes to places like that. I try and do all my own work but when I need something done, I always head over to the pro shop.
