Who's getting stoked for the first shoot of the year?
« on: April 01, 2013, 04:46:01 PM »
Potholes Jackpot shoot just around the corner and I can't wait. I have been working in Bozeman and haven't gotten out yet. Looking forward to sticking fish, BS'ing with buddies and getting on the water! BooYa

A friend and I went for the day two Sundays ago, we saw a ton of fish, but they were DEEP!    We still managed to pull a few in but not tournament numbers by any means.    But I was rusty and shooting new equipment for the first time.  Hopefully this weekend goes a little better for me.  We will be there on the water Friday morning to get some practice in.
I don't always shoot big mule deer, but when I do, it's with a bow tech!

Did you shoot potholes? How was the water level and color? Hope to run into ya there, my buddy and I are in a 18' alumaweld with a grey platform. Good luck to ya man, let's hope for some decent weather, the wind there can be treacherous!

The water was very high but we had great clarity.  The forecast isn't looking good from what I hear, 15 mph winds and overcast skies but we will see.   I will be either on a brown 20 ft nitro with everyday archer signs on it or a black 18 ft nitro  with www.bowfishingextreme.com on the sides

With 15 mph winds the open waters can get pretty choppy but manageable, there are alot of areas to get out of the wind, it is getting across the open water that is the problem. Last year at the state tournament I think we had winds of 40+, it got pretty dangerous.

We were up there Monday and the water is great. Saw water temps up to 63 degrees in the dunes. Tons of Fish!!!!!! If this weather holds out I think it will be the best jackpot ever. Already we've had some of the best early season days that I can every remember for shooting fish. All the reports that I have heard are very similar. It'll just be good to see everyone on the water again.

The weather appears to be on a downward spiral, going to be a challenge yet again!

I just drove in to town from Bozeman and if we keep a southwest wind there is quite a bit left to blow in! Either way, it'll be a blast as always! See ya on the water man!
