Just mail it to yourself, if it is coming from a gun shop find a local FFL that will let you ship it to them for pick up.

When I pass, do not let my wife sell the guns for what I told her they cost.

Break it down to as small and un-rifle looking as you can, package it good and drop it off at the closest post office.  If you want, Priority Mail is a little spendy, but gets it there darn quick.

So you are in Spokane now? If so, just take it to the post office and mail it to your address in Orting. No FFL is needed since its not crossing state lines. I would not mention to any post office employees that it's a gun.

Just wondering why you want to mail it, can't you just bring it home with you whenever you go home?

Take it to the post office and mail it. If it does not cross state lines, there is no need for a FFL unless you want to complete an official transfer. Then you will pay transfer fees and "Use" tax based on the value of the firearm.

I only put the FFL in there because he was not specific on how he has the gun now. If he bought it from a gun shop they will not ship it to you it will have to go to an FFL on this end for transfer and you will have to pay the fees associated with that.

If it is at your buddys house have him mail it right to you, no FFL needed for long guns.

Also, you are allowed to mail a firearm to yourself without an FFL even across state lines... So you can mail your rifle to yourself at your hotel for a hunting trip, or handgun to your hotel for your carry gun. Just as long at its mailed by you, to you.

If its a long gun you dont need an ffl if its a pistol you will.

I shipped a long gun in state and it was no hassle at all. I told the USPS lady what i was doing and she was very helpful.

Not accurate... You can mail a pistol intrastate and not use an FFL.  But getting a carrier to ship it can be tricky.  Shipping a handgun with USPS is not allowed unless you have an FFL.  You can go to a UPS Customer Service Center, and send a handgun to someone within your own state, or even yourself out of state, as long as the person on the other end doesn't officially receive the package (opens it).  Most of the UPS stores are not UPS owned, and many times they have no idea what the actual policy is on it.  UPS policy is:

* Has to go Next Day Air (Which can be pricey)
* Deliver it wrapped, or keep the box unsealed until arriving at the CSS
* Notify the clerk that you are shipping a weapon.
* Has to go from a Customer Service Center -- no Storefronts, no OfficeMax, No Pick-UP.

Drive over, pick it up and avoid the whole thing.
