We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

 It passed the UN

 Did we expect anything less???

Last week, Dudley warned you the gun-grabbers at the UN were dangerously close to passing their UN Gun Ban.

Today, they're expected to vote on their international gun grab.

Even worse, it only takes a simple majority -- 97 out of 193 member nations -- to pass it.

If it does pass, gun owners can expect Barack Obama and John Kerry to do everything possible to ram it through the U.S. Senate.

That's why it's critical you act today.

If you haven't yet done so, please click here to sign your "No UN Gun Ban" petition to your U.S. Senators RIGHT NOW!

If you have already signed your petition, please click here to forward this email to every American you know who supports the Second Amendment.

After signing your petition, please scroll down to read Dudley's detailed analysis of the damage the UN Gun Ban would do to your gun rights.

-- Christine H

P.S. NAGR staff is preparing to flood Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., with millions of "No UN Gun Ban" petitions.

Please click below to sign your petition, then consider chipping in $10 or $20 to help NAGR defeat this international gun grab.

Let's revisit this thread when nothing at all happens to anyone's individual guns in America.

things change even if this signed act doesn't infring up us personally things can and will change. Why does the UN have a statue of a pistol with it's barrel tied in a not? if this has nothing to do with our rights?
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

That seems like a poor choice.  Once it's done it's 10 times harder to undo than stop it in its tracks.

Let's revisit this thread when nothing at all happens to anyone's individual guns in America.

This isn't about the UN taking anyone's individual guns and never has been. This is about keeping an ongoing registry of guns sold so the UN gets to see what happens with them down the road. The problem with the UN treaty is that is gives our government a list if we actually abide by what we sign, a list that our government can use to take guns in the future. It remains to be seen if America will put up with that. I think we're a lot closer to it than we ever have been before. It would be a huge mistake to have a registry or for us to allow it.

How many times does it have to be explained that this will not affect gun rights in America whatsoever? Your name will NOT be in any international database. The United freaking Nations does not care about your firearm collection. International trade of firearms between the civilian populations of free countries will not be affected.

The point of this treaty is to create a chain of custody for large batches of firearms traded between countries. That way, when a rebel group in Angola commits genocide, we can track it back and say “Hey Egypt, care to explain how those rebels got a hold of 15,000 Vektor R4’s that were last seen with you?”

When this is taken off the UN website for the Small Arms Treaty:
"Marking and tracing

If national law enforcement officials were able to trace small arms back to their last legitimate owner, who might then be held accountable, this would form an effective measure against illicit trade and diversion. For that purpose, it is essential that the weapon be marked upon production and import, and that appropriate records be kept. Existing stocks should also be marked. Although many weapons are marked upon production and import, international cooperation in marking and tracing of small arms is in its infancy."

"their last legitimate owner". Where do you find this out without a gun registry? You'd just sign anything your Dear Leader told you to, wouldn't you, Mag?

Sigh.

Chain of custody: Beretta builds a batch of shotguns for export to America. Beretta records the serial numbers for that batch and submits that information to the UN. US distributor of Beretta shotguns takes delivery of the batch and that information is recorded and submitted to the UN. That’s as far as it goes. If you buy one of those shotguns, your information IS NOT submitted to the UN.

The only way you would ever end up in that database is if you were to sell that shotgun over country lines. But that’s not what this is about.
