Unsure why such a harsh answer, you could say south or north Idaho instead of being a bitter Betty.

I live and Hunt in Idaho so I know the area you all shot those deer in, the river pic gives it away...

More than that gives it away. Do people not understand that fight club rules apply to hunting spots even if you don't plan to hunt it again? It is respect for the other people that do hunt it and put in the effort to find and learn the spot. Threads like this should remind people why the wives and G/f's are left at home. Loose lips sink ships

I wouldn't advise saying that to my wife! if you do be sure she isn't hunting at the moment!!!!!!!

I think it says a lot about both of you for being friends enough to hang in there so that you both get to experience such a rewarding hunt!! Way to go...

Congrats to both of you for putting your boots to the ground and getting it done in some very rugged country. Not much more rewarding than "earning" your opportunities with good old fashioned hard work. I really enjoy reading your stories and looking at the pictures. The river pic brings me right back to numb legs and rutting bucks. I myself have hunted that wilderness off and on for the last 12 years. Its one of my favorite hunts.....I think because of the plane rides and AWESOME country.

How did your Icon pack workout for you on this trip? I like mine for archery hunting but like to be able to hang my rifle on my external frame so my hands are freed up so it sits at home on my backcountry rifle hunts.

I didn't see anything that even suggested a "personal add" I saw some tough hunters making it happen in some tough country.

The Icon worked nicely for me; it has better adjustment in the shoulders for me than most other hunting-specific packs I've tried... and as a girl with narrow shoulders that is KEY when carrying around large loads. I will throw it out there that when hunting I don't mind slinging the rifle over my shoulder and when I'm hiking to a camp site I'm not anticipating shooting at a deer on the move so generally the rifle is attached via some of the webbing. It works well for me because part of the enjoyment of the hunt for me involves the spot and stalk.. I'm sure some folks that still-hunt or are more comfortable with moving shots would find my setup undesireable. I'm sure I could put a scabbard on there somehow but I'm just not interested. Perhaps when Mr. Big runs right past me someday I'll reconsider.

It was a fabulous hunt with great company.. I'm very fortunate to still have Eyeguard as a friend and hunting partner.

Good luck with the emt training, when I went through it years ago it was very busy and packed with tons of info. I had to study my butt off to pass, good luck! And great story by the way.

Thanks.. only 3 more days for me. I'd have to get less than a 60% on the final exam not to pass the course at this point. As of Friday (hopefully) I'll be nationally registered.

Sweet, congrats (early). My class was only 3 or 4 weeks long, I can't remember exactly.
