how much time do you need ?
« on: April 09, 2013, 06:25:21 AM »
I'm gonna play
devils advocaite here a bit . I see people saying that they drew multi season elk tags and now it's time to buy gear and get ready . Do you guys feel like thats enough time to be prepaired and profishant ? I'm under the impression thats a bit rushed and may lead to poor choices in the woods what do you think ?

Well I suppose if you dont have a bow, never shot one yet, and dont have or never shot a ML then you better have allot of time off to practice IMO.

I think 5 months is enough time to do it. But you better hit it hard and already know were your going to hunt and approach each weapons capibilities.

Personally I have all three weapons and have shot and hunted all three. Its my opinion this should be a personal requsite to putting in for a Multi.

If not, like I said above, you better have lots of time and a good source of income for this season.

:yeah:

I'd rather someone get their gear now and start practicing now than to see what I see every year at Wal Mart and Cabelas where guys show up the night before modern season starts wanting to buy a new deer rifle and get it bore sighted and figure that's good enough :bash:

I see it every year on the range people show up a month before hunting season with a bow from a pawn shop and say they're bow hunting for the first time  :bash:

 :yeah:

If you have hunted all three, I imagine less time would be required to prepare.  Even better if you have taken an animal with all three!  As to the OP, tough question.  If you have hunted with a bow for a few seasons, I imagine getting ready for ML and modern wouldn't take as much time as would be necessary if you reversed the process, ie hunted with a modern rifle but never ML or bow.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
