Thanks a colored bear is high on my list. I hope I don't run into a couple big black bears first. My trigger finger might get itchy

Carp- hope you are able to get a color phase up there in BC. We have more colored bears than black ones here in the Blues which is where I have done most of my bear hunting. I hope to get a blonde one this spring. A buddy of mine and I got drawn for the West Blues units of Oregon again this year. Blonde is the only lower 48 color phase I am missing and I will take a smaller blonde one if I get the chance though not a dink. Mostly at this point in my bear hunting I am only after mature boars but as I said I would take a smaller blonde one.

Thanks. Have you ever seen a big mature blonde bear? It seems like the blondes never get as big as the blacks and the chocolate bears. I can't remember ever seeing a blonde that I thought was legit over 150 or so. My dad has all but a cinnamon. That or a blonde would be my first choice. It would be nice to have a rug in every color

How far in BC are you going? Way up north?
Haven't seen any bears running around on the hillsides yet, should be soon though. Once they're really out I see them pretty much daily on my commute.
I got drawn for GMU 105 this spring but haven't had the time off to hunt yet.
I'll be hunting a day here and there through April and then I'll hit it hard early May.
Gotta fill two tags, boy and I did a group draw.

Carp- I have seen some big blonde bears but overall I agree that it is rare for the blonde bears to get large. Not sure why that is. Last year I drew the Dayton unit spring bear tag and saw a good sized blonde bear 3 different times that I tried to get but it outsmarted me every time. Maybe this will be the year. When my buddy and I drew the same OR unit in 2008 we saw a bunch of blonde bears so my hopes are high.

I've posted this pic before but I think this bear was a good sized bear. I took this pic hand held at 18x zoom from 1-1.5 miles away. I didn't expect a good picture but you can see the color.
