Special Permit Draw Question
« on: April 05, 2013, 02:27:27 PM »
I dont understand why when you fill out your special permits that you can apply for multiple Units or second and third choices. Can someone explain that? I thought if you were drawn you should receive the Unit you were drawn for. How and why do they offer second and third choices?? Can someone clarify this system for me!

Well, for me, I like to put a hunt down for my #1 choice that's nearly impossible to draw, then for my 2nd, 3rd, or 4th choices I will put in for hunts that I have a more realistic chance of actually drawing.

If your name is drawn, but there are only 2 permits for that 1st choice unit which were filled by 2 people drawn before you, then they move on to your 2nd choice, and so on.

If you only put in 1 choice, which I sometimes do, then if my name is drawn and the permit has already been drawn for someone else, then they move onto the next person and you never know if your name was even drawn.

If I understand it correctly it's because when they draw, they draw by wild ID number.  If you are drawn and your first choice is 348 for example but all of the available permits have been awarded then you are given your 2nd choice, or 3rd etc.

Special Permit Draw Question

Exactly right bobcat! But, understand that you'll only receive 1 permit per application permit. You can draw more than 1 permit if you are putting in for quality elk, bull elk, anterless ect........but still only 1 quality tag! Good luck
