I did not think of reloading since its something I've yet to get into. Still i understand that its just the armor piercing rounds, but what makes them armor piercing is its speed 2250 fps. The speed also helps the light bullet to tumble increasing its lethality. The ammo you can buy travels at 1600 fps in the common 40 grain bullet, this has been shown in ballistic gelatin to greatly reduce its tumbling there for reducing its lethality. Neither have over penetration problems it does deliver all its energy which is minimal. The .22 Remington Jet pushes a 40 grain bullet out of a S&W m53 at 2100fps making it more powerful. The 22wmr has very similar muzzle energy's and slightly higher kentic energy's at impact when compared to the 57 SS197SR. The fn five seven has all kinds of cool points and is a great flat shooting target gun and varmint getter i just don't believe in its civilian offerings it would make a good personal protection gun. just my  :twocents: though. yes i know the standard magazine holds 20 rounds. just believe you need more umpf behind the bunch
I think you need to do a little more research CF. ;)

When you get into the segmented rounds, it becomes a whole nuther beast! Will penetrate a laminate windshield with zero deflection, yet will segment into 3 projectile when encountering soft body mass. Know several trainers for the state patrol that carry this gun for personal defnse while bowhunting, without a doubt that it will provide more than eb\nough protection against bear and couger. Just ask Joel Tuirner what he carries!

Looks like the prices are coming down a little, seeing them going for $1700 on gunbroker now.
