Proposed 2013 Moose Reg's
« on: April 03, 2013, 02:56:35 PM »
Anyone else read through the proposed regulations for the 2013 season and see that they are changing the rules on antlerless moose tags? Now (if it goes through) the antlerless tags count as your once in a lifetime unlike the past few years where they did not count.

A little dissapointing but oh well. Screwed up my master plan of harvesting 3 moose here in this state. I drew a youth moose antlerless moose tag back in 2000, and was going to keep putting in for an antlerless tag and then go for a bull tag after that.

WAC 232-28-273 2012-2014 Moose seasons and permit quotas.

Purpose of the proposal and its anticipated effects, including any changes in existing rules:
This amendment clarifies that the exemption from the once-in-a-lifetime moose restriction is also
applicable if the hunter applies in the future for a hunt in the permit categories of antlerless moose: raffle,
auction, or master hunter. Additionally, this amendment reduces the number of master-hunter moose
permits.

Reasons supporting proposal:
The proposed change in language reduces ambiguity regarding who may apply for a moose permit. The
reduction in master hunter moose permits reflects the expected number of hunters needed in 2013 and
beyond, based on the experience of recent years.

I read it to say that the antlerless moose is an exemption from the once-in-a-lifetime moose restriction.

 :yeah:

Another thing you need to realize is your odds are now better in drawing a bull moose tag than a cow moose tag.    :bash:
