Finally found some grouse...
« on: September 30, 2008, 01:25:44 PM »
I spent the last week at my property east of Oroville. I was putting up stud walls in the new garage (pole building) so the electrician can come and install my panel and string wire. So one afternoon I get the itch and loaded up my bike and headed up the hill after some grouse.

10 miles in forest service roads and 70 yards into the trail a grouse flushed, but no shot. I kept walking the trail and two more flushes and I manged a bird from each group. The place seemed alive with grouse. Inside of a half hour I hit the final bunch and took a nice big blue. With my limit I headed back to the bike and took this photo back at the house. A few days later I managed to bag another blue back in the same area.

In between hunting and working I also hit a local lake and played catch and release with a bunch of healthy, brightly colored brook trout. Most were deep orange in their fall colors. All in all a great way to have spent the week.

I want to see some pics of the fish too if you have any.  Nice looking birds. They are one of my favorite meals.

Nice!  I used to do a ton of hunting up there and have seen the forest floor covered with grouse in areas.  Were you at the Beaver chain lakes when you caught the brookies?  Lots of critters in the area.

Man! I still haven't shot one! :bash:   I haven't seen one since June!  I am starting to get pissed off...
I would rather be a conservative nut job, than a liberal with no nuts, and no job!
