Camping

I have an itch to go camping lately, anyone have any good ideas on a good place this Time of year to take the family tent camping, where we might be able to do a little fishing.

I went to the Qunicy lakes and fished Dusty and Burke last weekend.  Was a bit slow but my daughter ended up with a limit.

I'll add my own request to the thread.

My boy is 7 this summer and I'd like to get him out to an overnight. We are in snohomish county and would like to drive maybe an hour or two, have access to water for some bank fishing, and a honey bucket type restroom facility for the boy might be nice. Would love some suggestions.

This might be out of driving range from Seattle.  If you guys have a cheap raft or some float tubes, the short hike and fishing at Northrup lake is fun.  The kids have to be able to hike 2-3 mi.  I'd would go to nwhikers.net and search the trip reports for "Northrup Lake".

.

Go to "The Cove" at Fish Lake by Lake Wenatchee. Tons of fishing. Rent a boat that looks like a dock with a small motor on it and go crazy on some planter trout. There's nothing better when you're 7.

On a similar note, we have 9 acres outside Cle Elum near the town of Liberty. We have a covered area, fire pit, an outhouse and good spots for a tent. There is a creek that runs through it but it isn't fishable. The teanaway river is only about 20 minutes away and has some good fishing. If somebody is looking for a good, quiet place to take their kid(s) let me know and we can probably work something out.

There are some great places to explore. I remember as a kid just taking off for hikes and using the smoke rising from the campfire as my beacon for how to get back. There is still snow back in there right now but we usually are able to make it in there by late May or June depending on the year.

I would suggest showing up really early in the morning when they first open.  The two times I've stopped by the boats have all been rented out.

If your not too dead set on backcountry camping. I suggest 1000 trails, The "Pacific City RV and Camping Resort".
Its in Oregon lol, But one of my favorite places to be when I can get there. Its about $60 a night, and the tent sites are pretty nice.
I spend a majority of my time down on the beach which is a walk right across the street. Probably not what your looking for but I figured Id share. Its right next to Kape Kiwanda State Park. Absolutely beautiful area.
One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.
