Are you talking about the area on the west end of Lake Cle Elum as you head toward Salmon La Sac?

We have hunted and camped in that area for years. Never seen a turkey in that area. Doesn't mean they aren't there.  :sry:

Are you hunting the opener? You should just pick a spot in the NE or SE and focus on that. You may have to drive farther and invest more time but your odds of encountering birds is greatly increased. Cle Elum is fine for people who spend a lot of time there and see birds regularly but for a beginner its a difficult area to say the least. Go where the signifacant populations of birds are!  :twocents:
Fish hard, hunt harder!

Does and dang 2pts... Spooked 4 cows and a bull one morning hiking in. Should be good this year I'm hoping.. Ooops I've already said too much! This last season I came up on two guys in different ground blinds. Not sure where they came from since I saw no other vehicles. I actually saw more deer down low compared to where I had seen them the the previous year. I buddy had some luck on horse back high up.

I saw some birds in that area 4 years ago. Pretty decent flock. Went camping up there last summer and didnt see any but we were in the high country the whole time.

I've spent many hours working for the Forrest Service years back in the French Cabin area...never saw a turkey there.  I've seen a few in Teanaway and lots between CleElum and Ellensburg in the Johnson units...never as a hunter though.
