Idaho Multi Elk Zone Proposal
« on: April 10, 2013, 01:16:56 PM »
What are your'e thoughts on this? Personally I think $100 bucks is a little steep for NR's who are already paying a lot for a tag and license already.

Panhandle is a big enough zone for me.  Won't buy it cause won't need it but don't mind if others do.

It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.

I would probably buy it so that I can try other hunts in areas where I may only be able to make 1 trip to in a year. Hard to justify a nr elk tag for a week of hunting in a new area. But this would make.it easier.

It is definitely an intriguing proposal especially if there are opportunities where seasons might start earlier or extend beyond the area you selected.

I think it sounds like a good idea. I want to explore further south, and be able to come back to the panhandle as backup.

I think they should charge the NR's the same as the residents and give us a little bit of a break. I bet doing this would more than likely sell a few more NR elk tags as well.

I love hunting deer in Idaho, but I hunt on the border of two units which is also the border of two different elk zones. The elk get chased back and forth between the two zones by wolves quite a bit so it is hard to figure where they are gonna be. This proposal would make me consider hunting elk in Idaho again. Like I said though "they should cut us some slack".

Huntnnw - how are you buying two separate elk tags? Do you mean two in Idaho or in different states?

Many people buy two elk tags in Idaho.

Many buy and A & B tag for the panhandle.  Residents get the first at resident rate and second at non-resident rate.  Non-resident pay non-resident rate for both.  I don't believe you can buy them up front.  You have to wait until the left overs become available to purchase the second.  I believe that takes place sometime in August.
