Rifled Slugs for a Benelli Nova
«
on:
April 12, 2013, 02:42:30 PM »
Anyone know if I can shoot rifled slugs from my Benelli Nova pump shotgun?
Anyone done it before / which loads have you had success with?
Rifled barrels are hard to find and way too expensive, so I'm going to try the rifled slug option. At this point I have no aspirations to hunt with it, I just want to try shooting some slugs with it to see how it goes.
Thanks!

get plain (non-sabot) slugs from remington, winchester, federal, or brenneke, and a choke tube no tighter than full.. (no "ex-full" turkey choke, etc.) you might be suprised at your accuracy out to 75-80yds or so..

I've killed many deer with slugs out of smooth bore shot guns, they are pretty accurate and they make a heck of a hole in a deer. I have always used whatever was on sale.

I would call or email Benelli
or use improve cylinder. To tight will blow your barrel. Remington if I remember right said it is ok to use modified. but cylinder is the safe way to go. The manual some times tells you. I can't use slugs in my mossberg 835. The kick's chokes for my 10g high flyer is ok to use slugs, but the benelli super black eagle Kick's choke. Kick's comany said it was to tight for my Benelli SBE 12g,but Browning BPS 10g is ok.
Good luck

I shoot rifled slugs (Winchester Super-X 1oz) from my Benelli Nova with an IC choke and standard beads. I can keep them on paper at 50 yards. My dad once hit the 192 yard 12" gong with a slug too.
