Oregon hunt. need help
« on: April 10, 2013, 04:43:14 PM »
So I helped a friend get introduced to hunting here in washington. In return I have been offered to hunt around Mollala, Oregon. Im excited but dont have any experiance with Oregon. Elk and deer would be nice depending on out of state fees might just do elk. Anyone with knowledge of the area willing to point me in the right direction. Not looking for secret spots. Just need to know if this is an area i can DIY OTC?

I would ask you friend. He should be able to tell you if he is offering you to go hunting with him.

My friend is a she. She's never hunted until now. Her farher lives there and hunted all his life. Knows the area but old age made him hang it up a few years ago. I guess what im aking is if this area is open to a non res general season or is it a special permit that I'd need to appy for and draw?

Oh and I have never hunted that country but fished a lot of it when I was a young kid. I have some great times in the memory books from up there. I would do some fishing if you down that way :IBCOOL:

Good thing I read the latest posts before sending.  Yes open to public nonresident hunting.  Sounds like her father could be your best bet.  A few years retired from hunting is still going to put you in the right general areas.

Helpful hint:  If hunting the ag land for blacktail bring someone who speaks fluent spanish!  The illegals down there know where all the big ones are.  A half rack of beer and they will probably draw you a map!  A bottle of Crown and they will show you were that big buck is sleeping every day.  Need permission to hunt that land though :(
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Most of western Oregon is over the counter tags for non-resident deer and elk. Kinda spendy though!   :yike:

Good tip! Thanks guys. Look like about a grand for deer/elk combo. Probably wont have time to fish unless its during a scouting trip.
