Turkey broadheads

I have my trip planned two weeks from now at gallo springs
I am going to be in the market for some broadheads this next week and broadhead tune them for my bow. I know the expandable are legal for spring but are they worth it. I have looked at the rages and like the looks of them.  Should I just use my normal heads which are thunderheads or montecs.  Never killed a Turkey with a bow so any advise on this will be appreciated.

I am in the same boat. you should look into getting some guillotine broadheads i ordered some haven't shot em yet but the videos of them look sweet

If I recall correctly, your arrows need to be longer than normal for the guillotine to clear he riser.  But I have never shot them myself.

I've had real good luck with the spitfires, 3 blade open on imppact.  I've shot turkeys with fixed broadheads too but they don't put them down as fast unless u hit them perfect.

I am not looking into the guillotine style.  I wanna just keep my normal bow setup with my easton fmjs and possibly a wider cutting head that would drop the bird on impact. That's why I think the rage turkey heads might be a winner.
Any other options?

I've gone two for three on turkeys hunted with a bow (oops, two for four, I shaved a bunch of feathers off one south of Spokane one other time).  I use my deer/elk setup because that is what my bow is tuned for.  The year I did not get a shot, had I had one of the guillotine types I probably would have connected as I had a gobbler at 25 yards but only had his head and upper neck visible.

With this style, you do need a longer arrow and they don't fit in quivers very well.  Target shooting with them is tough with a standard target, I hung a chicken food bag filled with grocery bags as a target for my wife to practice with last year.  She never did get a shot opportunity.

Ive been shooting the bullheads and they fly the same as my regular heads. I just started shooting the rage turkey two blade heads and im still unsure about them. They dont seem to fly right for some reason im hitting low right. Im going to do a little more shooting before I give up on them. I hope tomorrow it isnt windy and I can get out and shoot more.

Have you tuned the broad heads to your bow?

I tune my bow with with the other heads and they fly true as my field points out to 50yds. I dont know why the rage doesnt fly because the 3" dia bull heads fly very well all are 100gr all are on easton axis 300spine 30" arrows

that's strange.  Thanks for the info.  I think I am gonna pick up some rages to test out.  I will let you know how they fly.

I don't understand, if your bow is tuned for your deer/elk broadheads, why go to the time and expense of buying different heads that do the same thing?  I can see getting some of the neck chopper types, but just another penetrating blade?

I'm still looking to tag my first turkey with my bow.  I keep taking it but leaving it in the truck    Hoping to change that this weekend.  I'm using NAP Shockwave three blade expandables, mainly because they fly great without additional fussing or tuning, and I want three blades with a larger overall diameter.  Shot placement is always the #1 factor and plenty of birds are killed with fixed blade heads so it's really just personal preference.

haha I kinda just want to try a large cutting blade like the rage turkey expandables.  I know even with those heads my arrow is more than likely going to pass through because I don't want to crank my bow down in draw weight.  I just want the hit to drop the bird quick instead of having a montec pass through and have to track a turkey.  I also have never shot expandables and am curious haha.
I don't like the guillotine style just because I don't wanna travel across state and risk missing a head shot on a bird. I also wanna just use my easton fmjs and not need longer arrows.

If you are shooting a compound, I highly recomend shooting an expandable. I like the Rage broadheads for compounds. I would stay away from the guillotine types unless you practice alot and have birds that will come in to very close range. The 2 turkeys that I took with a trad bow were under 7 yards and I always look for a back shot with trad gear.

With a compound and Rage Broadhead, you can hit them dang near anywhere and kill them. That big of a cutting area on that small of a bird just works very well.
