New bowhunter looking for a mentor
« on: April 15, 2013, 09:56:35 AM »
Good afternoon guys,

I have an employee of mine who lives in the Bellingham area and wants to get into archery.  Since I now live in Wenatchee, I cannot meet up with him and mentor him.  He is looking for a person to assist him in learning the sport of archery and also finding the right compound bow etc.  Would anyone be willing to meet up with him sometime and show him the ropes?

He could probably get a short lesson there and there are a few archery clubs around in the area as well.

No problem.  If I wasn't an hour or more away I would help him myself.

Silver Arrow Bowmen is RIGHT off I 5 in Mt vernon. Less than 3 min off the freeway.
Does your friend already have a bow? Our clubhouse is open Monday nights to the general public. We have a few bows he could try out if he doesn't. our Club is CHEEP! $2 a day per person for all the shooting you can handle, OR $30 for an individual membership or $40 for a Family membership. We have a huge walk through course. We have 35 targets on it right now, but will have 50 within a few months.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Hey Justan,

I'd second the Mt Vernon archery shop.  There's actually one in Everett, but I don't necessarily recommend them, unless he already knows exactly what he wants.  There is another shop over here in Lynnwood that has an indoor range where he could try a few bows.  I work in Lynnwood, and could meet him over there at lunchtime.  Plus, when you get over here to Duvall area some weekend, invite him to come over to my place w/you and we can all shoot.  I'd help him to start shooting properly and make sure everything is all tuned up.
