It is never a slam dunk and it is going to be CROWDED!  If you haven't hunted the bumping in the rain then you are in for a treat!

I think I'm going to brave the masses and bowhunt the Bumping this year.  Getting stationed here a 1-1/2 year ago, this is my second elk season, and of course my first one in that GMU.  Once my kids are out of school next week, we're going camping at Bumping Lake, plan is to beging to familiarize myself with the area and start my scouting process.  Not looking for any "honey-holes" but if I could get a steer in at least a decent direction, I'd appreciate it.
If your looking somewhere you can drive to and hunt from check out Timber wolf MT. or Cache Prairie. If your looking for somewhere to hike into, check out Indian creek meadows. Good Look

Timber Wolf and Cache get pretty hammered with guys...I would hike into the unit somwhere else.. :twocents:

Most of the unit gets pressure.  I have been hunting it since 2002.  Expect neighbors. :twocents:

Both good units and I've run into less people in bumping than nile. Just got to go the extra mile and then just a little more and just when you think you're there go a little more. :chuckle:

We have a group of three that will be hunting the nile this year

Nile a slam dunk????? Are you crazy??? NOTHING about elk hunting is ever a slam dunk and espeically the Nile unit. My dad and all my 3 brothers, grandpa and uncle have hunted the nile unit (late season) for over a decade and it has gotten worse every year.
One season my dad and brother drew the bull tag and didnt even see a bull and only seen 3 or 4 cows in the entire 2 weeks.

Like I said... It will be crowded this year due to the fact that it has been closed for three years and everyone forgot how tough it actually is.  It doesn't take many guys to have them running scared and the bulls mute.

The crowds don't seem to affect you much, it seems you are pretty successful regardless...

Here is another word for you WILDERNESS, Indians don't get off the road and we all know what the bumping unit is lacking. Plus you more than likely aren't going to see natives out while general seasons are going.
