iPhone 4S SD card reader?
« on: April 18, 2013, 08:37:59 AM »
Just got my first trail cam. Moultrie M-880 with lock box and a python lock. I got a 32 gig SD card for it. Expensive little guy! which is why I'd like to be able to view pics in the field instead of buying a separate SD card to swap in there.

Does anybody use any of the iPhone compatible SD readers with success? Thanks for any help. I'm pretty excited about the camera. I set it up in the living room today so I can see what the Dog and cats do while we're away. Haha.

I don't think you can do it with the iPhone or at least I have never had it work out for me.  I know you can do it with an ipad but would really like to do it on my phone.  Tagging with hopes of someone having a solution.

My wife ordered me a card reader that we thought would work in my iPhone, but it doesn't, it only works in the iPad.

So I have the option of carrying the iPad when I check my trail cams, or my laptop.

I sure wish there was a way to do it on the iPhone. I did a little research but could not find any card readers that are made for that purpose.

I've heard there is one that works for the iPhone when paired with an App called ZoomedIn or something.

I guess there's a reader for the iPhone called ZoomIt but it's $60. I'll just plan on getting a 2nd SD card and toting the digital camera with me, unless someone chimes in with a solution on here...

Here is the solution.  First off when buying a SD card for your trail cam get a micor SD card with a SD adapter.  Most phones use the micor SD card.  Just slip the micro into the adpater and it is now a standard SD card that can to into your trail cam.  I hope this is what your all thinking of.

just cause i have the phone doesnt mean i know the answer, my phone rarely comes out of the otter box

iPhones do not have SD ports. this is why I'm looking for an iPhone compatible SD reader that allows me to view trail cam pics on my phone while in the field.

Just get another SD card, they are cheap, And swap them out.

 :yeah:

No need for a 32gb card either. You could probably put about a gazillion pictures on that.

I like the old phone idea. I do have an old Droid with an SD slot. However, I wouldn't be able to save the pics and email them to myself.

As far as SD card size goes, 32 is way more than I need? Should I just get another one that's 16GB or even smaller? I plan on doing one week soaks and I'm setting the camera to 4 megapixel instead of 8 to keep file sizes down.

It varies greatly but I bet you might put 1000 trail cam pics on a 4gb card...I bought 8gb cards for mine and assume they are overkill.
