What is a good utilitarian carry gun?

Don't like the Taurus...sure there are good ones out there but I've heard more bad than good......used at Cabelas....they had a half dozen a week or two when I was up there last. Is the 10mm in classified swooped up yet....he was asking $500....

I settled on this little guy:

S&W 638 - It's light and has an aluminum frame, SS cylinder, shoots .38 Spec +P. SA/DA. My thought is it's a fugly gun and I won't mind getting it dirty or wet. I think you can find a Taurus with similar specs for cheaper. Hard to get more utilitarian than this. Pull the trigger - it goes BANG!
I sometimes carry a Kimber but I have had that end up with rust after a wet outing. Worry about getting it dirty too.

Glock 20 10mm it's more power then a .45 and 15 rounds in a mag. I have one for sale right now

Net.....I have the same thing and it is very easy to carry indeed. I swear that is the most "cannon like" gun in my collection. With +p rounds it really pops!

That is good deal and a great gun to own but i was looking outside of a fullsized pistol, more a medium frame....
Someone should buy that 10 just to have though...good price

Look at getting the glock 29 it's the medium frame 10mm

Nothing wrong with a Taurus revolver, I've had this one for about 10 years now, shoots anything I feed it and always goes bang.

My choice is the Smith and Wesson M&P! Has never let me down! Glocks have never felt right in my hand, But I do shoot them also!

The problem I have is,vexcluding the smith scandium and compact taraus ti guns, most revolvers are heavy enough that they don't get carried enough.....at least my pile doesn't. Tough to beat a glock for a bang around gun.

I have put around 5000 rounds through m&p 9mm and really like them.

$139 Hipoint 45. Just as ugly and reliable as a Glock at 1/3 the price. 

  boy oh boy......  I've shot a hi point pistol and carbine in 40.  No way in heck I would buy one.  I'd save my money for ten years to buy something else, and defend myself with a knife in the mean time
