Rippette and I are headed to the launch. Raining but still going to be a great day.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

Good luck to everyone and thank you to everyone who is volunteering to take a veteran out. As a wounded veteran with 3 combat deployments to Iraq it is greatly appreciated. My service in the Marine Corps will live in me forever, but the welcome home that we are getting makes it worth it. Again thank you all and good luck.

Keep those pictures coming guys!!!  I was supposed to be out there as a deckhand on a friends boat, but his boat broke down at the WTC last weekend and he had to back out at the last minute.   :bash:

Slow day so far. Not many fish getting caught. H20Hunter struck pink this morning.

Just saw h20hunter throwing down on some BBQ.
Excellent event for all involved. Thanks to Randy for putting it together.

Based on radio chatter, the Fish4Fun was filling the fish box pretty good.

So...here are a few pics.

We got on the water and dropped a few pots and then got to fishing around shipwreck. I had one soldier and two guests. We had a full boat but I lucked out...my crew wanted to fish. They were clearing lines, winching up 'riggers, handing off rods and nets, and really just working as a team to keep the lines fishing. We had set out two rods on the riggers and I was making sure to explain what a strike looked like, how the rods were set up, that kind of step. As I was pontificating the subtle take of the elusive humpy the port rod took off like a demon. It didn't even have time to come up and it was buried......we got on the rod and worked the fish for a few minutes only to have it come unpinned. Oh well, we can't keep kings but it would have been nice to see a little color. We worked on and off and picked up two fish in the general humpy hollow area. We had are best luck out in deeper water....around 500 ft. We lost as many as we landed. The best fish came at the end. It was announced that we would clear the gear around 1, pull pots, head in and have some bbq. As K was clearing the rod and reeling it in....boom, fish on. She hollered out fish! I was a bit unsure at first until I saw the rod throb...yep, that's a fish. We scrambled to get the net back out and the deck ready. She yarded it in like a champ and number three was in the boat.

This was a great event and I'm very happy that I was allowed to be a part of it.

Oh...and in case somebody mentions it.....yes I lost to Ripper..."smallest humpy"...$5...I paid it.
