It was alot of fun, i had the pleasure of hosting k's father (the gal in H20's pics) as our warrior and he was great o have on board, there was alot of text bantering back and forth and the daughter won out in the end. We did manage to hookup twice but lost one at the boat and one shook the hook about 10yrds out. We did manage to send him home with 4 nice dungees though, so between his daughter and himself his familly will have a seafood feast...
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

What a great day, the boat races going out was fun. Our soldiers loved the early ride as the Fish4Fun was moving pretty good until we caught the pack and the wakes off the bigger boats. We had 3 soldiers that had never caught a salmon before. Started out with a double to break them in    lost 1 and boated 1 out of that fire drill. After that it was more relaxing with only one fish on at a time. We ended the day going 4 for 5. The guys loved the day and took home some fresh fish. My wife and I headed for home with smiles on our faces from hosting some of Americas finest. We are already thinking about next years event.
Will get some pics posted later.

Fantastic day, we had 2 great soldiers on board. One caught 2 pinks and the other got his first ever. Fishing wasn't great but we hooked 7 and boated 3. we now have 2 friends and their families for life. They have already facebook friended us. I can't wait to get them out on the water again. Looking forward to next year. I will post pics tomorrow when I'm not so tired. It was nice to see Cohoho again and meeting Robodad and fish4fun.

I would like to express sincere thanks and gratitude to each and every one who came out and participated in Salmon for Soldiers! What you did on behalf of our veterans is unmatched and unparalleled! I was absolutely humbled by your outpouring of support, generosity and accommodation. Each and every one of you are examples of what Great Americans are. I salute you and am honored to call you my friend!
Don't forget to post some photos on The Outdoor Line if you get a chance! Tom Nelson and Rob Endsley would really appreciate that.
Thanks again so very much.......see you on the water!   :hello:

First and formost I want to thank all you vets weather disabled or not that attended this event and just make sure you all know how much you are appreciated for the sacrifices you have made for this great country and allowing us the freedoms we enjoy to put on such an outstanding event, You are the real deal and it was such an honor to be up close and personal with you guys and to get to know some of you and the struggles you face on a daily basis, never will a day pass that I won't think how lucky I am to be a part of this great country that you helped secure !!!

I'd also like to say a big thank you out to the Patriot Guard for your service and also for attending this event, I get goose bumps when I watch you folks do what you do for our finest hero's !!!

Randy, Penny and the rest of the staff that brought this incredible event from concept to fruition will have a special place in all our hearts and I want to thank you folks for allowing me the opportunity to participate in this event, I am humbled at the level of dedication you all have shown to our finest.

To those that participated that are not veterans are not left out, it is unbelievable how many of you showed up and poured your hearts into this event and want to be sure you ALL know that I'd smash humpies in the head anyday with you guys, Hope to see you all on the sequel !!!

We had the opportunity to take a couple sponsors out fishing friday and I will tell you that though the fishing was unbelievable, the catching not so much but want to be sure they know they are very appreciated and hope we see you again at the next S4S event !!

Some pics...

Ready to launch..

We had to release a nice 10-12# king so he became the king for the day !!

Cohoho with his favorite rod !!

Tied up Friday evening

Cohoho barking orders as usual !!  :tung:

Sadly we couldn't bring a fish into the boat saturday but had several come unbuttoned at the boat so no fish porn nevertheless it was an awesome day fishing with our vets and despite the conditions Captain Cohoho did a great job trying like mad to get these guys some fish but it just wouldn't materialize for what ever reason, Still a great day to be a part of !!!

Great times were had by all I am certain of it.

It was an interesting day fishing for sure.. Could see the pinks swimming right alongside the boat but could not get them to bite with any real consistency.

All in all we had a few failed opportunities and one successful.

robdad that pic makes my boat look small... Time to upgrade I guess.  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Your neighbor would take it if you just can't live with it.  That's what he said anyway...

We had a great time fishing with our veteran.  Jay and Kelly.  They are from the Spokane Area.  They have a horse rescue operation.

Was very honored to have the on the "Cassino" .  fishing was tough, but we managed to scratch out a couple.

I got to see Jay catch is first ever salmon!!!  He was pretty excited.

Already looking forward to next years event.

Special thanks to Randy and all the other volunteers who helped put this event on

Thanks
Mike--lostbackpacker--
It is what you meant it to be...
